all mixed up in the wash...

Friday afternoon. Putting my feet up after an endless day at work with a cup of lukewarm tea and a big sketchbook perched precariously on my lap. Things are just as they should be and now capping off a productive week with a spot of playful illustration. It seems all my fingers have developed a mind of their own and can draw nothing but flailing arms and bendy boned people. But I can't complain as long as there's still creativity time. Keep on sketchin'.

P.S Unfortunately the very last drops of ink from my Natural Gray Copic Marker died in the making of this piece. However fortunately an excuse to visit the art supply shop has arised!

Here's to happy coincidences and white lies.

Baking is bliss...

Birthdays to me always mean spending some time in the kitchen and whipping up a batch of my vanilla cupcakes. So for my little sisters sweet seventeenth I sneakily baked her a little surprise. And you can't have them in just one colour, oh no! A whole rainbow of colour and as many sprinkles as you can shake from the bottom of the jar. Baking is bliss.
Heres to splashing about and sprinkles.

Zine peek...

Nested in a ball on my chair and snuggled firmly to my desk adding the final bits and bobs to my latest zine - This Side Up. Getting to the point of dry eyed, empty brained, bizarre google searching mania. So as a method of escapism I've decided I'd like to share a teeny snippet of my work so far. So take a wee peek at this...

Oh, and a bit of this too...

Here's to apple crumble and sailor stripe tees

what i wore today - oct 9...

Looking some-what more bedraggled than usual but filled to the brim with ideas and snippets of prettiness after a week of culture soaking in moody weathered Melbourne. Watch this space...

Here's to paisley patterns and spinach pies.

what i wore today...

As an avid daily sketcher I was delighted to stumble across this concept courtesy of the brilliant mind of Gemma Correll. Visit her lovely blog for inspiration or to learn how to get involved with the project... http://whatiworedrawings.blogspot.com/

Here's to op shop bargains and library book lovers.

it's totem time...

Have you heard of The Scribble Project yet?
July's collaborative sketch off is a mammoth totem pole reaching way up to the cyber clouds - made entirely of mixed up scribbles. With everyone (yes, everyone) invited to join in.

Here's a couple of my contributions, all created with a $2 pencil, badly worn biro and a couple of spare hours. It's highly addictive behaviour and a great excuse to be a bit silly. Find out more here. (Submissions close July 31st)

Here's to pencil shavings and ice-cream sandwiches.

three little eggs...

Scanning across my desk for some illustration inspiration, I spied a small collection of Russian stacking dolls and some Moroccan born treasures from some well travelled friends. Several minutes, turned into hours and before I knew it I had a "moroccan patterns" Google frenzy in full flight.
I want to give them all their own stories and a home to call their own. Maybe you can help me out? Some are mothers, and others are daughters. But they are all individuals in their coloured cocoons.
Here's to water pistols and all shades of white. xox

scuba dive, scream queen...

You know those nights? The ones when you toss and turn like a wide eyed night owl. And you think. You think like there's no tomorrow. Sometimes I feel like I need to let it all out before I hit the sheets. So I put pen to paper, and sketched it down in black and white. Maybe it wasn't the most promising remedy, and not exactly doctors orders, but it did make for some interesting space.

Here's to lemon icing and surprise black outs. xox

ahoy matey...

Is there anything better than stumbling home at the end of the day and finding a brand new zine stuffed in your mailbox? I love to read about other peoples little worlds. I love the cut and paste and the hand drawn type. And I love the home made stapled spine.

Here's to mail box treats and wonky shopping trolleys. xox

THINGS I HAVE REALISED JUST RECENTLY.
1.) Pensioners are often much more stylish than society generally give them credit for.
and 2.) My obsession with the word 'ELEPHANT' is relentless.

and 3.) Accidently drawing John Lennon is a very good omen.

Heres to snack boxes and torn tees. xox

joey loves dawson...

Feeling the need to sit in front of the teevee and illustrate the random thoughts in my head today. I am thinking this would make a lovely sticker sheet of sorts?

In other news, I am reaching the third week of the flu and have succumbed to macadamia cookies and housebound mania. However, it does provides a foolproof excuse to crawl back in bed and read my favourite girlie magazines.

Here's to mismatched buttons and heartache. xox

hello...

And from here in it begins...

A shared scrapbook of sorts. Muddle-headed train trip sketches, labours of love and items of lust. Perhaps a running commentary on my manic mind melts and a mish mash of inspiration or lack there of? Let's cross our fingers.

Please do come back often to sneak a peek.

Here's to tea and cupcakes. xox
